Hi, I’m Aaron. I’m an apprentice of Jesus, and my greatest goal in life is to make Him known. I’m a pastor, teacher, podcaster, designer, and lifelong learner.
Currently, I reach people as the founder and director of GoodLion Ministries, and the GoodLion School of Discipleship. My favorite role is Brooklynn’s husband + Jack’s dad. In everything I do, I work to bring innovation, love, and kindness.
A little more about me.
For nearly a decade, I had the incredible opportunity to be a youth pastor at Calvary Chapel Vista in Southern California. I got to lead middle and high schoolers, and occasionally stepped into the world of Bible College teaching. Honestly, guiding that amazing group of students towards Jesus as King was an absolute highlight of my life.
In 2018, after moving to Oklahoma to be closer to my wife’s family, I started a Christian Podcast network and began making resources for the broader body of Christ.
For a wonderful season, I came alongside the organization Calvary Global Network to serve as their Director of Podcasting & Content Strategy. I got to work with a lot of great people, and make a lot of amazing things to help churches around the world. It was a life changing experience and I am extremely grateful to those who put faith in me.
Today, I am focused on running GoodLion Ministries, helping young Christians follow the way of Jesus in a postmodern and post-Christian culture. I create podcasts, workshops, and content to serve the church at large. It is my dream to do this full-time. You can support that effort here.
I also am the founder and director of the GoodLion School of Discipleship, which is a local para-church ministry that serves young adults in the OKC area, gathering together to study the foundations of theology and the heart of discipleship. It is my absolute joy to meet with these students on a regular basis and pour into their development.
To help support my ministry work, I run a web design business which I originally started way back when I was 15 years old. It’s had a few names over the years, but it currently goes by Helmsman Agency.
I am pursuing a masters in applied biblical leadership at Western Seminary. My favourite things in the world are deep conversations about God, and creating resources that will help people grow and flourish as they follow the way of Jesus.
BLOGS & WRITTEN WORK
Currently one of my favorite places to do ministry is the GoodLion Podcast! Each episode, my good friend Brian Higgins and I work hard to dive deep into theology, culture, church, and discipleship to Jesus. I’ve had some much fun in these conversations, and running this show has continued to push me to be a lifelong learner.
That constant, nagging feeling that no matter what you do, it’s never quite enough. You pour your heart and soul into everything, trying to live up to these impossible standards—whether it’s the ones you set for yourself or the ones you feel from the world around you.
But here’s the truth: perfectionism is a trap.
In this episode, we’ll talk about the pressure we feel to perform and to present our lives as flawless—especially in a world driven by social media and comparison culture.
We’ll get real about the toll this takes on our mental health—how perfectionism breeds anxiety, sucks the joy out of life, and leaves us feeling like we’re constantly falling short.
But there’s another way to live, a way that frees us from the pressure to be perfect. So, if you’re tired of striving, if you’re exhausted from trying to measure up, this episode is for you.
We’re going to talk about grace, letting go, and finding peace in the fact that you’re enough, not because of your efforts, but because of who you are to Jesus.
